Congratulations
and best wishes on your engagement!
We hope that Central Presbyterian will not only be a lovely place to have your wedding, but also that you may grow in spiritual awareness as a part of this community of faith. If you wish to have your wedding in Central Presbyterian, after reading over the Wedding Brochure, please call our wedding coordinator, Kathi Thomas at (512) 288-6944, or e-mail at Kathi@specialweddingflowers.com. She can answer any questions you might have about our church. There is a calendar showing dates already booked at the bottom of this page. Approximately 90% of our weddings are non-member weddings. To be married here, at least one of the bridal couple must be a Christian. You may bring in your own pastor, of any Christian faith, but we do need the pastors name, church and address so that we may mail a letter inviting them to the church (an Internet or mail-order ordination is not sufficient). For nonmembers, the date is confirmed 6 months before the wedding date, but you should make your reservation and place a deposit as soon as you decide on the church, date and time. If using a minister other than one from Central Presbyterian, the minister's name, church and mailing address are required before confirmation of your date (need this by 6 months before the wedding). If you would like one of our pastors to perform your marriage, we prefer for you to attend at least one of our Sunday services to hear our pastors, then meet them after church. It also gives you an opportunity to hear our pipe organ, usually also our grand piano, and to see the church with people in it. When one of our pastors is officiating at your wedding, they require counseling sessions with the couple, please see the information in the Wedding Brochure. Holidays and other dates on which weddings are not held:
Central Presbyterian does not schedule Sunday weddings for nonmembers. To schedule a wedding for a nonreligious holiday weekend such as New Year's Eve, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Memorial or Labor Day weekends, please contact Kathi as soon as possible. These weddings must be scheduled at least 4 months before the date, with the minister confirmed no later than 2 months before the wedding. It is your responsibility to confirm your minister to the church, they are not included when you reserve the church. Generally, weddings are held on Saturdays, at any time of the day you prefer, but no earlier than 10:00 AM or later than 8:00 PM. They can be held any day of the week (unless noted above) other than Wednesday nights, or Thursday at noon, when the church is in use for regularly scheduled programs and meetings. Just be aware that during the day on weekdays there is no parking available here. Rehearsals: Rehearsals are held the day before the wedding. For rehearsals, 5:30 PM or 6:00 PM are the preferred starting times. (None before 5:30, and, unless we have multiple weddings, no later starting time than 6:30). If there are multiple weddings, then the bridal couple who booked first has the first choice of time for the rehearsal, unless the other couple are members, and booked more than 6 months before the date. Please see Wedding Brochure for further information about having your wedding at Central, and for fees. Multiple weddings are allowed on a day. There needs to be a minimum of 3* hours between weddings (each wedding is allotted 4 hours- beginning with 2 before the starting time.) 4 hours between is even better. *If there are just 3 hours between multiple weddings, the 2nd wedding will only be allowed in church 1 hour before their time; with 4 hours between, the 2nd wedding can still come in 2 hours before. Concerts are also often held in the church, but they are not usually scheduled more than 3 months in advance. |

You may call the church at (512) 472-2445 to determine if the date you desire is available, or check the list here, which is updated regularly. Other days may be unavailable - please check the full church calendar when choosing a date. We do not "pencil" in dates. To reserve a date and time, FIRST read the Wedding Brochure, and THEN you may send in your wedding or holy union reservation request. In addition, if you are not an active member of Central Presbyterian Church for at least one year prior to the wedding, a non-refundable deposit of $200 is required. |
